testimonials_small I’m so glad I saw the little ad in the newspaper, “SOHI Fitness, Hawaii’s Smallest Winner” for 200 lbs. and Over; finally, an exercise camp in my size. I got excited and thought what do I have to lose but a lot of weight. I still wasn’t sure about signing up but I’m very happy that I did. During the first class I thought dang, I must be crazy, this is too hard! But as the weeks went by I could feel myself getting stronger and the clothes starting to get loose. Wow, this really feels good! I went through some pain everyday, but it was good pain. You take Megan’s camp and you’ll know what I mean. I have bad knees, but I kept coming back. Even though I had to take a week off I came back and wanted to finish.

As the weeks went by I started to notice the strength that I was getting. The daily things that were hard for me to do were getting easier. Just getting up from a low beach chair was hard; I had to roll over then get up. Now, I have the strength to just get up without struggling and that feels really GOOD! She modifies the exercises individually and that helps because everyone is different.

Then the eating part, of course, was the hardest. Living here it was hard getting rid of the white RICE! Anyways, you e-mail Megan your daily meals and she sends back how you should eat or what to substitute different foods with. She modifies it personally for you. I now eat BROWN rice and egg whites; not bad after all. The therapy sessions given by her husband Damon were very helpful. Who would have thought this would be included in an exercise camp. But it works really well all together. You can’t ask for a healthier package than this one. I’m proud to say that I lost 12 lbs. during my 12 weeks and lost 10 more to date, keeping up with what I have learned.

michelle3 Signing up for the SOHI Fitness Boot Camp was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! Like many, I have struggled with my weight since I was a child. I starting gaining weight when I was in the 3rd grade and always wondered if I would ever really be able to lose the pounds and keep it off. Through college years and my 20’s I continued to gain and always would say to friends and family that I was going to lose the weight. I tried but always got frustrated because I hated the food and was always hungry and always gave up after a couple of weeks.

In July 08, while sightseeing with my brother, we were walking up an incline and I couldn’t catch my breath, had to stop several times and seriously thought I wasn’t going to get back up to the car. To see the fear reflected in my brother’s face as well freaked me out. I was 29 years old, 280 lbs, and knew I had to make a change.I began to change some of my eating habits, tried to workout on my own (that didn’t work well for me) and did lose some, but it was very slow going.

I moved to Hawaii in Sept 08 and did my best to stick with it. One of my co-workers kept trying to get me to go with her to meet her then trainer and I kept putting it off. In February 09, she told me that she saw a class that was going to start March 1st and it was specifically for people over 200 lbs with the focus on losing weight. I will be honest, I was very skeptical but decided that I would go to the info session with her but not sign up since I really didn’t want to pay for trainer because I should be able to do it on my own.

During the session, while listening to Megan, I discovered that her views on weight loss went along with what I believed. The program not focused on just the workout, but she was going to help with the diet as well. Her plan to take what we ate typically and to tweak it to be more health conscious. I sat there and found myself thinking, why not give it a try and found myself handing Megan a check to pay for the 12 week session. I made the decision that I would not tell everyone at home since I would be going home at the end of May for my 30th birthday and wasn’t sure how well it would work for me. I will not lie, it takes hard work to take off what has taken years to put on. You have to make the commitment to make the change in your eating habits and attend the workouts, but it will pay off. I started the class at 261 lbs. At six weeks I lost 14 lbs., which is what I had hoped for in the 12 weeks. Five weeks later, as I boarded the plane to go home, I had lost a total of 30 lbs.

As I write this now, I decided to continue with the program for a second session and have a total of 40 lbs in 18 weeks! I am eating what I like, yes I still eat pasta at least 3 times a week, but I now know the correct portions to have. The support of others in the same situation as I am really helps keep me going. I look forward to workouts and feel better after them, albeit a little sore sometimes, but I am finally making a change and reaching my goals! If you have made the decision to make a change in your life and are willing to dedicate yourself to the effort, then the SOHI Fitness Boot Camp will work for you!

I was going to hot yoga for a month, and although my flexibility was better, I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. One night I was browsing Craigslist and noticed and ad for beach boot camp at Ala Moana Beach Park. I called and spoke to Megan about the class. testimonials_small I would always see Megan’s beach boot camp during my run, so I decided to find out who she was and how I could join her class. After chickening out a couple of times, I finally committed and started my personal training sessions. I am so glad I did because after just a month and a half of working out with her, I lost a total of 8 inches, mostly from my mid-section, and about 6 pounds (even after having gone on a short vacation within that time period)! I honestly felt the difference after my first session … my whole body ached for a week (more so than with any other workouts I’ve done).
